INTAKE SECTIONS

Completely removable door and frame:
Door and frame are mounted into intake throat with sheet metal screws into anchor plate and straps welded to intake throat making door and frame readily removable for repair or replacement without marring the finished wall.



Floor support grid:
Floor support grid 3/16" flat stock welded to steel angles 1/4" x 1 1/2" x 1 1/2".

Detailed Specifications
The prepositioned clips on the intake section at the floor support automatically sets the intake door at the proper height.

CHUTE DOORS







Custom Door Sizes and Designs are Welcome and Readily Available.

All Trash and Linen Chute Intake Doors are fabricated of Type 304 stainless steel. Bear the Underwriters Laboratory 1 1/2 Hour "B" Label and NYC-MEA #167-77. Doors are pre-hung and equipped with positive latching and single motion T-handle equipped with cylinder locks keyed alike. All doors are self-closing and self latching. All intake doors can be equipped with electric interlocks as an option custom door sizes and designs are welcome and readily available.

  • Unexposed side of door will not exceed 250 degrees within the first 30 minutes of a fire test.

  • Surfaces of the door and frame are unmarred by lapped joints, bolt on style trim, screws or rivets.

  • Trim is 18 gauge stainless welded and polished integrally with the door.

  • Door and frame are completely removable from intake section without marring wall.

    OUTLET DOORS

    Type TH

    T.H. Outlet doors are most commonly used for linen chutes, or when an Underwriters Laboratory 1-1/2 "B" label door is required.
    This outlet door is fabricated of type 304 stainless steel mounted in a 2" x 2" x 3/16" angle frame and which is an integral part of the hopper style section. The door is held in a normally open position by means of a counterbalance assembly equipped with a fusible link. Door is pre-hung with dual positive latches, 2" drain connection, impact plate and adjustable pipe support.

    Type OG

    The Type OG is commonly used with trash chutes when containers and compactors are positioned directly below. The door is fireproof, horizontally inclined and held open with a fusible link. In the event of a fire, the fusible link will melt allowing the door to roll into a closed position. This door is also available in a "B" Label construction.

    Safety Vent
    Model 24VS


    The Model 24VS Safety Vent complies with the latest N.F.P.A. #82. The safety vent is designed to normally exhaust the chute riser of odor, keep inclement elements out and (in the event of rapid combustion or sudden explosion) provide complete relief within the chute riser, so the intake doors below will not be blown open.

    U.L. Tested Electric Interlock

    This fail-safe system is designed to allow only one chute door to be opened at a given time. At all times, the doors are positively locked until the attendant presses the push button release for the door to be used. When this door is opened, the other doors are electronically locked out while the chute is in use. The pilot light on each of the doors indicates when the chute is in use. An optional switch at the bottom of the chute can be provided to lock out all the doors during a cleaning period or maintenance. This system can also be tied into smoke and heat detection devices.

    Sanitizing Unit

    The sanitizing unit is used in conjunction with the flushing spray head located at the top intake level. The sanitizing unit cleans and deodorizes the chute riser when used on a regular maintenance program. (This unit is installed typically by others along with the necessary piping.)

    Heat Control Devices

    Thermostatically controlled at predetermined points along the chute riser. They can be designed to activate sprinklers heads, lock out intake doors (when equipped with electric interlocks), close outlet doors, or send a general alarm signal.

    Smoke Detector Unit

    Similar to the heat control devices, this can be located at either the top of the chute or within the outlet door room. The smoke detector can be designed to activate sprinkler heads, lock out intake doors (when equipped with electric interlocks), close outlet doors, or send a general alarm signal.

    Sound Deadening
    When noise is created by falling bottles and cans, it is recommended that the chute be coated with sound deadening material such as, standard Mastic or Korfund Vibrodamper 80-A.
    Spiral Chutes

    The use of gravity in spiral chute construction is based on the relation of friction and centrifugal force resisting gravity. This principal is augmented by concave troughs, so that materials of varying sizes and weights proceed at relatively uniform speeds. Thus, increasing the euse-possibiities to include service in most of the business and manufacturing fields. Positive action fire doors can be provided at all opening where required for fire protections. The open core type chutes have all-steel, trap type fire doors at the floor openings. The enclosed type spirals are equipped with vertical sliding, counter-balanced fire doors at intake and discharge points.
